Linux 802.1x Configuratie

Volg deze stappen om je Linux-toestel in te stellen om 802.1x authenticatie te gebruiken op een bekabelde aansluiting in een KU Leuven residentie.

Zorg ervoor dat je de kabel van de connector in de muur rechtstreeks op je computer aansluit.

Klik op het icoon van je Network Manager. In het menu dat openklapt kies je voor "Verbindingen Bewerken".

Je krijgt onderstaand scherm te zien. Klik hier op "Toevoegen".

In het venster dat nu open gaat, kan je bovenaan de naam van het netwerk invullen.

Zorg ervoor dat je in de tab "Algemeen" een vink zet voor Automatisch met dit netwerk verbinden wanneer het beschikbaar is

Vul daar CampusNet in. Daarna ga je naar het tabblad 802.1x-beveiliging.

• Zorg ervoor dat Gebruik 802.1X-beveiliging voor deze verbinding aangevinkt is
• Selecteer bij Authenticatie Beschermde EAP (PEAP)
• Laat Anonieme identiteit leeg
• CA Certificate File: verwijs hierbij naar /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/USERTrust_RSA_Certification_Authority.crt
• PEAP Versie zet je best op Automatisch
• Gebruikersnaam: Hier vul je je r-nummergevolgd door @kuleuven.be in. dus r-nummer@kuleuven.be
• Tenslotte vul je je KU Leuven wachtwoord in bij Wachtwoord.

Het scherm dat je nu ziet zou er zo moeten uitzien:

Je computer zou nu automatisch op CampusNet moeten verbinden met 802.1X-authenticatie!

Follow these steps to configure your Linux Device to use 802.1X Authentication for a wired connection in a KU Leuven residence.

Make sure that you connect the network cable directly from the wall socket to your computer.

Click the icon for your Network Manager in the task. Select the option "Edit Connections" from the menu.

You will see the window below. Select Add.

You can enter the network name at the top of the window that opens up.

Make sure that, in the "General" tab, the option Automatically connect to this network when it is available is ticked on

Choose the name CampusNet. Afterwards switch to the tab 802.1x Security

• Make sure to tick the optionUse 802.1X security for this connection
• For Authentication chooseProtected EAP (PEAP)
• Leave Anonymous identity open
• CA Certificate: refer to /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/USERTrust_RSA_Certification_Authority.crt
• PEAP Version: select Automatic
• Username: Fill in your r-number, followed by @kuleuven.be . So: r-nummer@kuleuven.be
• Lastly, fill in your KU Leuven password in the password field.

The screen should now look like this:

Your computer should now connect automatically to the CampusNet network using 802.1X authentication!
