Wireless @ KU Leuven
On KU Leuven campuses and campuses of the KU Leuven Association there is a wide coverage of wireless networks in auditoriums, public spaces and libraries.
KU Leuven has the following wifi networks:
- campusroam: the KU Leuven network for staff and students (log in with username@kuleuven.be)
- eduroam: a network that is available in thousands of educational and research institutions worldwide (log in with username@kuleuven.be)
- iotd: network for visitors (the access code needs to be requested by KU Leuven staff)
campusroam / eduroam
campusroam is the KU Leuven network for staff and students. This is the preferred network because it offers staff access to the internal network, which means that services like internal network drives and secure applications are available through campusroam and not the other networks.
eduroam is a global network at educational and research institutions. KU Leuven staff and students can log in to eduroam at other institutions, and users from other institutions can use this network at KU Leuven. This network does not offer access to internal KU Leuven services like network drives.
These networks are offered in two variants:
- campusroam / eduroam: the fastest, most stable version of the network (5 GHz). Always use this network if it is available.
- campusroam-2.4 / eduroam-2.4: an older, slower version of the network (2.4 GHz). Only use this network if you cannot see the standard campusroam/eduroam network on your device.
- Network name: campusroam (or campusroam-2.4) / eduroam (or eduroam-2.4)
- Username / Identity: KU Leuven username, followed by @kuleuven.be
(e.g. u0123456@kuleuven.be or r0123456@kuleuven.be) - Password: your KU Leuven password
- Anonymous Identity (if requested): this field must always be empty.
- Security: WPA2 Enterprise
- EAP-method (if requested): PEAP
- Encryption (if requested): AES
- Authentication (if requested): MSCHAPv2
- CA-certificate (if requested): "Use system certificates"
- Authentication server / Domain (if requested): radius.kuleuven.be

Configuration information for specific systems:
Automatic configuration using the geteduroam app
As an alternative for the manual configuration, KU Leuven staff and students can use the geteduroam-app to automatically configure campusroam and eduroam.
Before you install this, make sure to keep the following in mind:
- This tool can only be used on personal devices. If your device is managed by a local IT administrator, do not use this.
- The networks campusroam-2.4 & eduroam-2.4 (for older devices) are not configured with this app. Configure these manually.
