Composition

Principle

KU Leuven has two Works Councils:

  • a Leuven-Brussels-Antwerp-Limburg Works Council for the campuses in Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp, Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Geel, Genk and Diepenbeek;
  • an East and West Flanders Works Council for the campuses in Kortrijk, Ghent, Aalst, Bruges and Sint-Lucas Campuses.

The KU Leuven Works Council was established following statutory regulations. Generally speaking, this means that the Works Council is composed of

  • on the one hand, the institution’s chief executive and one or several of his representatives and substitutes. Delegates are chosen from management staff;
  • on the other hand, a number of staff representatives and substitutes. There should be no fewer than two and no more than twenty-five representatives.

The chairman of the Works Council in Leuven-Brussels-Antwerp-Limburg is the Managing Director.  For the East and West Flanders Works Council the vice-rector campus KULAK in Kortrijk is the chairman. The deputy chairman is appointed by the chairman during the first meeting of the council. A secretary is chosen from the staff representatives.
